When spring is on it’s way, more than likely so are the birds. The birds like to make nests and hang out with their families in the tree branches of your neighborhood. If you are one that admires birds then why not think about building your own bird house and placing it on a tree by your home?
One way that you can build your own bird house is from a bird house kit. This is one of the easiest ways that you can build your own birdhouse, as all of the parts are there that you need. It makes it extremely easy to do, something that the whole family can enjoy.
Some of the bird house kits that are out there will require you to have a couple of things. Some of them will require that you have weatherproof wood glue – or even rust proof screws. It all depends on what type of birdhouse kit it is that you are buying. This is why it is important to read the labels before you bring it home, to see if any additional materials are going to be needed.
Just like most hobbies where you are building something, bird house kits come in a variety of skill levels. For instance if you are building a multiple story one, it is sure going to be more difficult than a basic single story bird home.
When you are purchasing your birdhouse kit, you have to make sure that you select one that has the right dimensions for the types of birds that you are wanting to attract. Select one that is too big, and it may be overan by nuisance animals such as squirrels.
Bird houses that are unfinished may have a better chance of attracting birds. Remember the idea is not to have the bird home fully enclosed. By drilling holes in the bottoms or sides of the bird home, will allow rain to drain out of the home and keep it suitable for the birds. As mentioned in the beginning of this article, I cannot stress how important it is to use glue that is water resistant along with rust proof nails, this will help your bird house stand whole for a long time.
Just remember to look over the bird house kit before purchasing. This includes the dimensions, what tools are required, and what type of birds that you can expect to move in. Bird house building, feeding, and watching is a fun hobby that everyone can enjoy, so good luck with everything!
